Matthew Derenda's Vacation

Over spring break I went on a Carnival cruise to the Bahamas. The cruise set sail on Saturday at 8:00am from Miami, Florida. We had to take a plane Friday night to get there in time. When we first boarded the ship we were in line with like 3,000 people, so the line moved pretty slow and I was a little tired from the plane ride just a few hours earlier. When we finally got to our room I was fairly surprised with the size of it. We had small little living space, 2 bedrooms, and a very large circular window looking out of the side of the ship in the living space. After we settled down for awhile I decided I would check out the stuff I can do while on the ship. The ship had plenty of places to shop while I was on board. It also had a pool, some water slides, and small zip line from the top of the ship to the lower deck. The ship was quite packed but overall it was pretty relaxing. When we got to the Bahamas I was blown away by the pure beauty of the beaches and the land surrounding them. T...

Computer Engineering

Image
A computer engineer What is Computer Engineering? Computer engineering is the branch of engineering that integrates electronic engineering with computer sciences. Computer engineers design and develop computer systems and other technological devices. Computer hardware engineers research, design, develop and test computer systems and components such as processors, circuit boards, memory devices, networks and routers. Here is a list of some Computer Hardware a Engineer might work on: microprocessors; memory chips: random-access memory (RAM), read-only memory (ROM) and nonvolatile re-writable flash memory. data storage devices: hard disks, solid-state drives and optical drives; input devices: keyboards, mice, joysticks and gaming controllers, cameras, microphones, scanners, touch screens and remote sensors; output devices: printers, monitors, audio devices and remote controls; and networking components: adapters, modems, switches and routers.

Computer Programming As a Profession

Image
Background Information: As of 2017 there was about 300,000 computer programming jobs available in the United States with an average salary of about $88,000. Technically you do not need to be certified by the government to give yourself the title of  "Computer programmer or Software Engineer", but many employers would like you to have at least a bachelor's degree in the field of Computer Programming.  What does a Computer Programmer Do? Computer Programmers figure out the process of designing, writing, debugging, testing and maintain the code behind computer programs. A Computer Programmer also must develop a GUI (graphical user interface), this is so that non-technical users can use the computer program thoroughly.  A programmer will also use libraries of basic code that can be modified or customized for a specific application. This approach allows more reliable and consistent programs and increases programmers' productivity by eliminating some routi...

Python (Not the snake)

Python is a very popular programming language that many programmers incorporate into their projects. What you're doing right now has some sort of python script behind it. Python first began being used in the late 1980's (1989 to be exact) when is creator needed a language to use for small sided projects. Guido wrote,  " In December 1989, I was looking for a "hobby"  programming project that would keep me occupied  during the week around Christmas. My office ... would be closed, but I had a home computer, and not much else on my hands.  I decided to write an interpreter for the new scripting language  I had been thinking about lately: a descendant of   ABC   that would appeal to   Unix / C   hackers . I chose Python as  a working title for the project, being in a slightly  irreverent mood (and a big fan of   Monty Python's Flying Circus ). —  Guido van Rossum" Pythons five main philosophizes include: B...

Quantum Core Computing

Image
This is an example of a current quantum core computer. Quantum core computing: is soon becoming a reality with many advances in computer engineering. Quantum computing is  computing  using  quantum-mechanical   phenomena , such as  superposition  and  entanglement . They are very different from the normal binary computers that use primarily transistors . As of 2018 quantum computing is becoming a reality with many advances and governments funding the quantum computing research. Many people are working for these computers because they can solve equations much faster than normal computers, some engineers and scientists estimate that the quantum computers are over 100,000,000 x faster than normal computers. As of today IBM, Google, and D-Wave systems are the most advanced in the world of quantum computing.

Computer Programming by:Matthew Derenda Programmable devices have been dated back to almost 1200 ad. However the first actual computer program is dated at 1843 by Ada Lovelace for a Analytical Engine. Programming is basically writing or coding a program to have a input variable and an output. You code the program to collect data the user is doing than take that data and output it somehow. For instance you code a program that detects when a person is running and the speed they are moving at, than calculating that information and displaying the speed the person was running at on a screen.
